"We are saddened to announce the passing of our aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend, Edith Light, of Freehold, NJ, on December 7, 2022. Born in 1919, she grew up in Paterson, NJ, beloved daughter to Abraham and Bessie Light and sister to Ruth Light, Mildred Greenspan (Daniel), and Harold Light (Ina). For many years, she lived in Hempstead, Long Island, where she worked for federated department stores Macy's and A&S. Wherever Edith went, she made dear friends who became her extended family. She was known as "a beauty" inside and out, delighting us with her incredibly sharp mind. She remembered birthdays, anniversaries, names, and momentous occasions of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a great conversationalist, always up on current events, the latest pop culture, and whatever was happening around her. She was generous in sharing the wisdom earned by years of experience. To know her was to love her! We will miss her greatly. A private family funeral will be held in N.J. Memorial donations in memory of Edith Light may be made to Jewish National Fund (to plant a tree in Israel in her name) or to your own favorite charity."
