Edith June (Horner) Nail, 87, passed away, surrounded by family at her home on Wednesday November 5, 2025. She was born June 14, 1938 in Wanette, Oklahoma to the late Robert Washington Horner and Opal (Holloway) Horner. She is one of nine children, seven of which have passed on but she is survived by the eldest, Julia. She was raised in Wanette, Oklahoma and attended school at Pleasant Hill. It was there that she caught the eye of her future husband, thus causing her to drop out of school in the tenth grade to marry. Later in life she would continue her education and pursue a career in medical transcribing. Not too long into her growing life she found her passion in bus driving. She concluded that passion at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee Oklahoma after 32 years.
On December 11, 1953 she married the love of her life Clayton Ray Nail in Wanette Oklahoma. Together they shared 49 years of marriage and welcomed four children. After many years of farming, traveling, fishing, and raising a family they settled in the Tecumseh and Shawnee area where they attended, as members, Bethel Temple full gospel, pastored by Brother Jimmy Rutters. Not only was Edith a devoted wife and mother, she also held the title of Me'maw, grandma and granny (great grandmother). While in her many different roles in life, she continued to stay grounded in her faith. She also had the ability to appreciate simple things and use it as a direct undeniable lesson for life. While enjoying some of her many interests like baseball, gardening, birds, Christ, crocheting, sewing, boating, reading and food, she just had a way to humbly and with a smile, sneak in a gut punch of a life lesson. When granny speaks, you listen and then bring her a coke! Then it was always followed by an I Love You! She would often be found in the kitchen preparing meals for family and friends because what she enjoyed most was a full house and food. A very close second was bread!! She would tell you that she wished for a remove-able stomach in order to be able to keep on eating.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Clayton Ray Nail. She is survived by her four children. The eldest son, Thomas Nail and wife Terri of Earlsboro, their two daughters Tarena Reece, Tasha Alves and husband Josinei. Her son Christopher Nail, of the home and his daughter Krystal Jackson and husband Calen. Her son Wyman Nail and wife Jennie of Asher, and their two daughters Amanda Cloud, Keelee Burk and husband Brandon. Her daughter Lorna Wingo Ring and William Ring of the home, her two children Joeleen Adams and wife Sam, Joshwa Adams and wife Vera. Thirteen great grandchildren and a very long and loving list of chosen extended family.
