Edith Clary Powell, age 86, of Freeman, Va, passed away May 23, 2024. Edith was Co-Owner of Powell Wood Products for 26 years. She was Treasurer at Reedy Creek Baptist Church for 49 years. She was a Co-Teacher in the Nursery with her late husband Leroy Powell for over 40 years. She also played the piano there as well for some time.

 

She was also a Charter Member and Life Member of Brunswick County Rescue Squad Auxiliary and Former Bookkeeper at W.R. Ezell Lumber Company.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard G. and Courtney Moore Clary; her husband Leroy Powell, Sr; her brothers A.V. Clary and Ervin Clary; her sister Fannie Wiley; and her nephews Randy Wiley and Tracy Powell.

 

She is survived by her son, Joseph L “Joey” Powell and his wife Vicky; her sister-in-law Christine I. Mathias and husband Mack; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A huge thank you to the staff from Amedysis Hospice for the wonderful care she was given and their caring support.

 

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 3 P.M, at the Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Freeman, Va.

 

Family and Friends will meet in the Fellowship Hall after the service. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reedy Creek Cemetery Grounds Account c/o Danny Wiley, 700 Reedy Creek Rd, Freeman, VA 23856.
