Edith M. Rella

Edith "Dee" Rella, born and raised in New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2026.
Edie was the proud owner and operator of Edie's Hair Design in Whippany, where she served her community for more than 20 years. A dedicated professional and a natural people-person, she built lasting friendships with clients who became family.
She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law; her two cherished grandsons; her devoted companion of more than 30 years; her three sisters; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.
A hardworking and fiercely independent woman, Edie lived life on her own terms. After selling her salon, she continued cutting hair part-time while embracing her most important full-time role-being "Nana." Her family meant everything to her.
Edie had a zest for life that was evident in everything she did. She loved Motown music and dancing, and you might have spotted her riding her motorcycle-or happily riding on the back of one. She opened both her home and heart to many pets over the years, including dogs, cats, and birds. In her quieter moments, Edie could be found tending to her garden or relaxing by her pool, soaking up the sun while watching her beloved hummingbirds.
Edie will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her. She touched many lives with her strength, warmth, and generous spirit. May she walk in eternity in peace.
