Edith Marie Sample Riner was born on June 15th, 1934, in Miami, Florida, and on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 91, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was lovingly cared for in her last days by both of her daughters, her son, and her granddaughters.

She is predeceased by her sister Betty Gifford, her brother Robert Sample, and her grandson Stephen Beadles. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Riner; children, Sharon Beadles (Bo), Paul Riner, and Mary Riner; grandchildren Lance Alvarado (Crystal),  Jess Miller (Byron), Sarah Surls (Jon), Melanie Carpentier (Chris); and great grandchildren, Nia Hasley, Madison Surls, Andrew Surls, and Noah Surls.

She grew up in Fort Pierce, Florida, and went to nursing school in West Palm Beach, where she worked as a nurse in a hospital.  She was always passionate about caring for others. At 22, she met the love of her life, Glenn Riner, on a blind date. They were married in March 1957. They shared a beautiful Christ-centered marriage for 68 full years before her passing. Each night they kept their long-held tradition of holding hands, praying together, and kissing goodnight. Their loving marriage was a role model to many.

When Edith was 31, she and Glenn heard The Gospel with eager hearts, and they both accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. Afterwards, she raised her children with that same great faith in God’s goodness and grace. She lived for Christ and enjoyed serving the Lord by hosting youth groups, being a women’s leader in her church, making meals for others, and encouraging everyone in her life through Bible verses and prayer. Even when she could no longer drive to church, she still enjoyed watching a sermon each Sunday morning on TV. She was known to always keep a devotional book and Bible in reach.

Edith could often be found cooking a delicious meal to be shared, crocheting a gift, reading Louis L’Amour westerns, doing a jigsaw puzzle, or going to yard sales. She liked sports, especially football.  She never stopped cheering on the Miami Dolphins, Virginia Tech Hokies, University of GA bulldogs, and the Florida Marlins with friends and family. And her family will lovingly remember her affinity for Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino's and Hallmark, John Wayne, and Western movies.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was thoughtful, caring, loving, a good listener, kind, and hospitable. She made sure to open her home to everyone, making them feel like family. Most of all, she loved the Lord, and enjoyed spending time with her family, her greatest joy in life. We will miss her so much, but we have peace knowing she is in Heaven, and we will see her again one day.

Special thanks to Adula, Anna, and Jeanette for the love you showed mom while caring for her at home.
