Edith Romenzak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rannells Funeral Home - Hamlet Chapel on Dec. 16, 2025.
Edith J. "Edie" (Shepherd) Romenzak, a devout Christian who cherished her family above all else, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 26, 1952, in Warsaw to the late Alonzo and Mary Ann Shepherd Sr., and was 72 years old at the time of her passing.

On August 1, 1992, in Knox, Edie married John Romenzak, who preceded her in death. She was a retired cashier, having worked at various businesses throughout the community, where she was known for her friendly smile and warm spirit.

Edie was a faithful member of Outreach Tabernacle Church in Knox. Her love for the Lord shone brightly through her life, especially through her passion for Christian music, which she played and sang "loud and proud" right up until her passing. She also had a creative heart, enjoying arts and crafts, and was especially gifted in interior decorating, taking great pride in making spaces warm and welcoming.

Most of all, Edie deeply cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she extended that love to all those fortunate enough to be part of her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Cherie (Ray) Sanchez; two sons, Gary Craft and Frank Craft; one stepdaughter Jenny Howard; eleven grandchildren, Ivan, Troy II, Courtney, Metallica, Aden, Alex, MerryAnn Craft, Frankie Craft, Brandon McKay, Britney McKay, and Colton Romenzak; nine great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; four brothers, Alonzo (Vickie) Shepherd Jr., Phillip (Sandy) Shepherd, Richard (Lisa) Shepherd, and Robert Shepherd; and eight sisters, Nancy Tuley, Rosa Tolson, Anna (Dave) Dare, Leota (Doug) Griffith, Ramona (Jerry) Redlin, Anita (Larry) Redlin, Wanda (Brian) Pinson, and Tammy (Joe) Hoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Romenzak; one daughter, Dawn Madsen; one stepson John Romenzak; one stepdaughter Robin Romenzak; one brother, Billy Shepherd; and two sisters, Martha Tolson and Annette Landrum.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CST on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. CST at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.

Edie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her joyful praise, her creative spirit, and the deep, abiding love she held for her family.
