Edith Rochelle (Sciaretta) Sirianni, 103, formerly of Manchester, passed away peacefully on November 16th, three weeks shy of her 104th birthday. Edith was the widow of James Anthony Sirianni who passed away in 2001. Born on December 5, 1921, in Bernardsville, New Jersey, Edith was daughter to Anthony and Anna Cerone Sciaretta. She is also predeceased by her five brothers; Joseph, Armand, Thomas, Frank, and Dominic.

Edith and James met in Hartford and moved to Manchester after World War 2, where they settled and lived for over fifty years. In the small neighborhood, they made many lifelong friends while raising their young family. While the children were in grade school, Edith volunteered and worked part time at Bowers Elementary. When her youngest went into high school, Edith returned to school and received a certificate in Bookkeeping at Manchester Community College, thereafter going to work for the Johnson Paint Company on Main Street for many years.

At St. Bridget’s Church in Manchester, Edith was a longtime member of the Rosary Society, where she volunteered her support to many yearly activities including the annual Christmas Fair, White Elephant Sale, and the Strawberry Festival. She also volunteered at the Penny Saver, a Manchester nonprofit that donated all proceeds to Manchester Memorial Hospital. In addition, she volunteered at the hospital, where she served for over twenty-five years in several different positions, her favorite being the gift shop where she could help people pick out the perfect gift for their hospitalized loved ones. In her spare time, Edith enjoyed bowling, walking for exercise, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Edith leaves her 4 children, Jim (Nancy), Donna (Mark), Alan (Debbie), Nancy (Tim) along with 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Peter) Ackerman, Greg (Rachael) Sirianni, Matt (Emily) Brown, Kate (Ben) Nielsen, Stephanie Illausky, Dan Illausky, Ceci (Mike) Paine, and 10 great grandchildren, Ruby, Lincoln, Larsen Ackerman, Jack, Wes, Ada Sirianni, Keaton Nielsen, Mila, Miguel, and Meadow Paine, along with many nieces and nephews.

Edith will be buried on Tuesday, November 25th with a service at East Cemetery on Center Street, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, James. In keeping with her wishes, her ceremony will be kept private. To leave an online condolence please visit www.holmeswatkins.com
