Edith Wingate

Edna Wingate passed away peacefully on February 9th at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sr., and is survived by her children, Loice and Wayne Jr.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by other family members, including Howard, Laura and Robert.

Edna dedicated more than 40 years of service to the Sarasota County School District Transportation Department. During her career, she served in many roles, including supervisor, route coordinator, trainer, and bus driver. She was not only a committed employee, but also a mentor and friend to many, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with.

Edna will be honored at a graveside ceremony at Jesse Knight Cemetery in Nokomis on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 10:00AM.
