Edmond Bueil “Kid” Rich passed away on November 9, 2025 at his home in Meridian, Texas, at 94 years, six months and 16 days old. He was born on April 24, 1931 near Steiner, Texas. His parents were William Foster “Bill” and Bula Brooks Rich.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2 P.M., at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Bro. Phil Murphy and Bro. Cody Creel will officiate. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Morgan Cemetery following the funeral service. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Sowders, Larry Campbell, Eddie Nichols, Terry Rich, Ricky Jourden and Kevin Melton. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Davidson, Ray Morgan, Don Pool and Steve Stapp.
Kid attended the Kopperl schools. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. In November 1954 with a ranking of Boatswain’s Mate Third Class, he received an honorable discharge and hitch-hiked from San Diego, California back to Morgan, Texas. On October 5, 1956, he married the love of his life, Joycie Mearl Dickey, in Fort Worth, Texas. Over the following decade, Kid and Joycie were blessed with the births of their three children, Brenda, Mike and Linda. When Joycie died in 2018, they were approximately six months away from celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary.
In 1959, Kid started in the auto body industry where he thrived until he retired in April 1992. During his career, he worked for multiple dealerships in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as Forest Chevrolet in Cleburne, Texas. In the early 1980s, he left Forest Chevrolet and started Kid’s Paint & Body Shop in Morgan, Texas where his son, Mike Rich, later joined him. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Clifton.
Kid was a man that loved his Lord, his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Brenda and Bill Young, Mike Rich and Linda Rich, his grandchildren, Eric and Lisa Young, Derek and Shana Young, Brittany and Aaron Lavallee and Megan Pinnell, his seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Cole, Ryder and Presley Young, Helena, Stella and Edmond Lavallee, his sisters Bobbie Young and Judy Parsons, his sisters-in-law Reba Rogers and Mary Jane Dickey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kid was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Joycie, brother William Burnett “Billy” Rich and nephew Gary Rich.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
