Edmund O'Meally Obituary

Edmund Constantine O'Meally, of Westminster, passed away peacefully at Brightview Senior Living on June 29, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 14, 1932, in Freeport, New York, Ed was the youngest of five children born to Edmund Constantine O'Meally, Sr. and Mary Cecilia O'Meally, all of whom predeceased him. As a young man, Ed excelled in both track and field and football and played both sports at Union College in Schenectady, New York prior to his graduation in 1954. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army and, while serving, married his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara Jane O'Meally (nee Nold), who predeceased him in 2019. Upon his honorable discharge, Ed spent his career as a dedicated sales engineer for General Electric where he worked on projects across the world. After his retirement, he happily served as a substitute teacher at South Carroll High School for many years and volunteered for 11 years as the announcer for the South Carroll Varsity Boy's Lacrosse Team. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ed gave generously of his time to his community as a Cub Scoutmaster, Little League coach, Pop Warner football coach, and as a member of the Baltimore Symphony Society. Ed was also an active member of St. John Catholic Church where he served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. While living at Brightview, Ed frequently assisted at Mass and lead residents in reciting the Holy Rosary. Surviving Ed are children Edmund J. O'Meally and wife Dawn of Westminster, Dr. William O'Meally and wife Christine of Baltimore, James O'Meally of Cornville, AZ, John O'Meally and wife Wendie of Westminster, Robert O'Meally and wife Cecille of Baltimore, and Christopher O'Meally of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Brendan, Nicholas, Maggie, Meghan, Logan and Conor; great grandchildren Callie, Ben and Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed will be remembered for his steady guidance, strong values, and quiet generosity. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, especially his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his example of work, faith, and family devotion. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11am at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, with a eulogy beginning at 10:45am. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery in Westminster where he will be reunited in perpetuity alongside his beloved wife, Barbara. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Rd., Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093. My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of my Uncle Ed. Although I have not seen him in many many years I fondly remember the times my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Ed and my six cousins would visit us in Niskayuna NY.
