Edmund Donald Silva, 101, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the VA Boston Healthcare Systems-Brockton.

Born on September 21, 1924, to Henry and Augusta (Correia) Silva, Ed grew up in Stoughton and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning home, he worked for F.C. Phillips before beginning a long and dedicated career with the Stoughton Police Department in 1958. Over his 32 years of service in the police department, Ed became known for his calm leadership, integrity, and kindness, retiring in 1989 with the rank of Sergeant.

He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn (Patriarca) Silva, and his son, Kenneth. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Sameski, and her husband, Robert, of Greenville, SC; his granddaughter, Christine (Sameski) Hill, and her husband, Andy, and their children, Will and Jack, of Nashville, TN; and his granddaughter, Kayla (Sameski) Schrock, and her husband, David, and their children, Michael and Caiman, of Los Angeles, CA.

Ed is also survived by his sisters, Irene Stein and her partner, Chris, of Quincy, and Louise Bennett and her husband, John, of Brockton. He was predeceased by his sisters Fernanda “Fannie” Ambrosio and her husband, William; Hilda Tucker; Mary Ann “Anna” Gilmore and her husband, Joseph; and his brothers Henry Silva and his wife, Helen; Joseph Silva; and Albert Silva.

He is also survived by his longtime companion Teresa Maloney and her family, and his dear friend Art Barrett, and his wife, Erika.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brookmeadow at Cobb Corner in Stoughton and to the VA hospitals in West Roxbury and Brockton for their exceptional care and kindness.

A Graveside Service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, 103 Center Street, Bridgewater, on Friday, October 24, at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or online at www.michaeljfox.org.
