Edna Blackmon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Austin/Round Rock on Feb. 5, 2024.
Edna Blackmon peacefully departed this life on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 86 in Round Rock, Texas.
Born in Sumter, South Carolina, Edna was one of nine siblings. During her father's military service, the family relocated to her grandfather's residence in North Carolina. During high school, they moved to Hampton, Virginia, where Edna completed her education at Hampton High. Post-graduation, she joined the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. Over the course of her life, Edna lived in various states, including Virginia, South Carolina, Connecticut, Mississippi, Rhode Island, California, Louisiana, and Texas.
Edna was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 40 years, Jim Blackmon; her parents, Bessie Edna Byrd Jackson, and James Graham Jackson; sisters Susie and Jeannie, along with brothers Dreyfus, Buck, and Johnny. Edna is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife Lynn; her son, Ray, and his wife Amy; a beloved grandchild, Sawyer; her brother, Patrick Jackson; and sisters, Deloris Morgan, and Wanda Parrish.
Edna will be forever cherished as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Her passion for football and Mardi Gras was evident, and her grandchild, Sawyer, held a special place in her heart. Weekends at soccer fields, trips to the big store, and indulging in whatever Sawyer desired after school created an unbreakable bond between them.
Known for her extraordinary kindness, Edna's memory will endure in the hearts of those who held her dear. Her absence will be deeply felt, and she will be remembered fondly. Rest in peace Gmaw.
