Edna Fields Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Jun. 14, 2025.
Edna Gurley Fields, 85, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Novant Health in Bolivia, with her devoted daughter by her side.
Born on November 21, 1939, in Wayne County, Edna was the daughter of the late Percy and Esther Bass Gurley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Joel Fields; her son, Ricky Lynn Fields; and her brother, Bobby Lee Gurley.
A woman of quiet strength and unwavering faith, Edna was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville, where she remained active as long as her health allowed. Her devotion to her church and to her Lord was evident in every aspect of her life.
Edna retired after 20 years of service from Barry Manufacturing in Goldsboro, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind spirit. Outside of her work, she found great joy in tending to her yard and nurturing her beautiful flowers-a reflection of the care and attention she gave to everything she loved.
Above all, Edna cherished her family. Her deep and enduring love for them was the guiding light of her life and the source of her remarkable strength. Even in the face of hardship, she remained an inspiration-steadfast, courageous, and full of grace.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Church followed by a service to celebrate Edna's life at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Barry Stallings and Rev. Freddie Gooding officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Left to honor her memory are her daughter, Alice Faye Bragg and husband, Robert F. Bragg, Jr. of Southport; her grandson, Trey Bragg; and her niece, Fran Melvin and husband, Chet. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family and friends whose lives she touched with kindness and care.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove O.F.W.B. Church, P.O. Box 36, Pikeville, NC 27863.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
