Edna M. McCooey

Edna M. McCooey, age 97, of Meadville, passed away Saturday morning November 22, 2025, in Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born in Meadville on October 17, 1928, a daughter of Nelson and Sadie (Burns) Anderhalt.

She was a 1946 graduate of Meadville High School and on September 7, 1957, Edna married Fred McCooey, he passed away on September 11, 2005.

She was employed as the secretary in the child welfare department for the Crawford County courthouse.

Edna was a member of First Christian Church and took great joy in playing with the Meadville High School marching band, surrounding herself with music, and listening to MASH football games on the radio.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Thompson and her husband Gary of Meadville; and two grandchildren, Kelly Shuffstall and her husband Justin of Columbus, OH, Darren Thompson and his fiancé Dagmar Stahl of Cleveland, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Robert Anderhalt.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday 11-26-2025, at 6:00 PM ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD, CONNEAUT LAKE, with Rev. Lori Coleman of First Congregational Church in Wayne, OH. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, 11-26-2025 from 3:00PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Marianne Suprys, Dr. Jason Brown and staff at Yolanda Barco Oncology Institute, The Caring Company, Wesbury staff, Linda Thompsan and Patricia Hofius for their care and support over these past years.
