Edna Joy Murrell

Edna "Joy" Murrell, 86, quietly passed away with her daughters by her side, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in Austin, Texas.
Joy was reunited in Heaven with her greatest love, L.G.
Joy was born on February 14, 1936, to Bess and Owen Campbell. She was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Holland Hall in 1954.
Joy met the love of her life, L.G. "Bud" Murrell in Tulsa. They married in 1960 and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. They moved to Conway, Arkansas in 1963 where they raised their three daughters. After splitting time between Arkansas and California, they moved to Austin, Texas in 2001 to be near their daughters and their families.
Joy loved playing golf, and traveling, and had a special love for dogs. She had a flair for fashion and loved to sing. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint. Many of her beautiful needlepoint projects are displayed in the homes of her family. She loved being in her kitchen preparing beautiful meals and has a special talent for her family favorite; Lebanese food. She is known for her hospitality and would go to great lengths to set a beautiful presentation, whether it was a special holiday or simple lunch for two. Above all, she was happiest when she was doing things for others.
Joy is remembered by her loved ones as bright, energetic, and fun. She was very generous and giving of herself. They never had a conversation with her that didn't end with "come over anytime" or "what can I do for you."
Joy was preceded in death by her husband. L.G., and her granddaughter Laura Beth.
Joy is survived by her daughters; Debbie Murrell, Pam Dillon and husband Grant, and Heidi Magee and husband Mark; sister Candace Campbell; Seven grandchildren; Katie Gray, Luke Gray, Steve Short, Dustin Short and wife Molly, Blake Magee, Landon Magee, and Kinni Magee; and three great-grandchildren; Jackson, Luke, and Westin.
Her family would like to thank the caring staff at The Plaza at Querencia, and Halcyon Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
There will be a family celebration of Joy's life at a later date.
