Edna Maxine McKinstry Park, 99, passed away peacefully in her son's home in Centerburg, Ohio on September 15, 2025. Maxine was born in Knox County, Ohio on March 29, 1926. She was the daughter of Clarence (Rip) and Gertrude Frost McKinstry. She grew up on the family farm in Bangs, Ohio and was a 1944 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. As a young woman Maxine worked on the family farm helping her dad and mom. She worked locally at the Farmers Exchange, the County Home in Bangs and Kroger in Mt. Vernon. She married Charles Richard (Dick) Park on August 18, 1947 in Greenup, Kentucky and built a life together in Centerburg, Ohio. She was the bookkeeper of the family business, Dick Park Excavating. Maxine taught Sunday School at Beulah Church in Bangs, was a Brownie troop leader, Cub Scout leader, active in the Centerburg Band Boosters and the local Avon representative.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick Park and a daughter Jenelle Wintz. Motherhood, her greatest gift began with the birth of her daughter Pamela J. Clements (Jim), her beloved son David R. Park (Joanna) and loving daughters Jenelle A. Wintz and Teresa E. Witten (Jim). Being a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She is survived by grandchildren, Helena Lion (Paul), Amy Jervis, James Park Witten (Katie), Jonathan Cramer Witten (Brooke) and step grandsons Michael Clements, Kyle Barry (Megan), Kevin Barry, and Keith Barry (Morgan).
She also had the blessing of great grandchildren, Victoria Lion, Josh Lion, and John Lion, Judson Witten, Ruby Witten and Vivian Witten. Step great grandchildren Mason Berry, Ty Berry, Ian Berry, Miles Berry, Cam Pletcher, Korbin Berry and Kiera Berry.
Maxine enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening, Ohio State games, NASCAR and her family. She traveled to Texas, Florida and Spain to visit with her family. Also loved her cockatiels and feeding hummingbirds. Later in life she found joy watching her favorite game shows and Gunsmoke. Playing Bingo at the Centerburg Senior Services was one of her favorite things and she did not want to miss. Also playing rummy and scrabble with her children and winning!
Special thanks to Dave and Joanna for their loving care. Thank you to Jean Lahmon and family for their special visits with mom. Blessings of gratitude to the Gentiva Hospice Care team and The Hardin Way Independency LLC for their excellent care given to our mother.
