Edna Wynell Polson passed away on October 7, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on June 10, 1937, in Mount Enterprise, Texas to Edna Marvin and Georgia (Barlow) Akin.
As a devoted homemaker, Wynell dedicated herself to creating a loving environment for her family and friends. Wynell was a member of East Mountain Baptist Church for many years. She was known for being a great cook, often welcoming visitors to her home with a pot of coffee and a slice of cake or pie. In addition to her passion for cooking, Wynell found joy in several hobbies that showcased her creativity and love for nature. She was an avid quilter, crafting beautiful pieces that reflected her meticulous attention to detail.
She loved pottering in her sunroom, doting on her indoor plants. She had beautiful Schefflera, Mother-in-law’s tongue, and a gorgeous Angel Wing Begonia she had received from a friend. She delighted in watching the birds and squirrels, appreciating the simple beauty of the world around her.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Stuart Mayfield and wife, Cindy; stepdaughter’s, Cindy Polson, Connie Rauch and husband Douglas; grandson’s, John Carroll and wife, Jennifer, James Carroll and wife, Cherryl, Jeremy Carroll; granddaughter’s, Corinne King and husband Richard, Charli Cahill and husband Creed; grandson’s, Charles Russell Deford, James Polson and wife, Hannah; granddaughter’s Naomi Quick and husband, Matthew, Sarah Macoy and husband, John, Bethany Korynek and husband, Tiago, Anna Evans and husband, Chris, Jennifer Schroeder and husband, Charles. Several great grand kids and countless other family and friends loved her.
A very special thanks are given for all the exceptional care from Chambers Hospice.
Wynell was preceded in death by her first husband, James Mayfield and her second husband, Russell Polson.
In honor of Wynell there will be a visitation, and funeral services held at East Mountain Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Monday, October 14, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.
