Edna M. Ridgeway

Edna M. Ridgeway, age, 82, life resident of Orwell, passed away Saturday at her son's home. Edna was born November 25, 1942, in Orwell, the daughter of Elwin and Nellie VanCamp Archibee. She graduated from Sandy Creek Central School in 1960. Edna was married to her husband, David Ridgeway on January 30th, 1964, and he passed away on January 3, 1991. She was employed by Sandy Creek Central School as a teacher's aide and bus aide for 40 years, retiring in 2023. Edna was a twelve-year member of NOCA, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pulaski, as well as a member of Vorea Community Church, Orwell.
Edna was dedicated to her community and enjoyed helping children of all ages through their years at Sandy Creek Central School. She enjoyed playing the slot machines at Turning Stone Casino with her closest friends and was a faithful Pittsburgh Steelers fan, watching football games every week. She was a devoted Christian woman, strong in her faith reading her daily prayers and scripture from her much-loved Bible which she always kept on her kitchen table. She adored her grandchildren and treasured their visits with their stories and homemade cards and gifts. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are three sons, Scott (Tammy) Ridgeway of Sandy Creek, Matthew (Kimberly) Ridgeway of Orwell and Adam (Paige) Ridgeway of Sandy Creek, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Edna was predeceased by her brother Lawrence Archibee.
Funeral services will be held, 1 p.m., Thursday, January 2nd at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with a private family burial in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations, in Edna's memory be made for a future scholarship fund in her name at Sandy Creek Central School, Adam Ridgeway, 231 Caster Rd., Sandy Creek, NY 13145, or to CNY Hospice, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
