Edna Scheffler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Jennings-Lyons Chapel - Owosso on Oct. 23, 2025.
Edna Mae Scheffler, age 79 of Morrice, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at the
University of Michigan Hospital, Sparrow Campus. A Celebration of Life will be held on
November 1, 2025 at 1pm at Gilead Baptist Church 300 N. Delaney Rd. Owosso, MI
48867.
Born on January 10, 1946, in Perry, Michigan, to Jean and Gladys (McGowan)
Lockwood. As one of six children, her life was filled with the warmth of a large and
loving family.
Edna's journey with her beloved husband, David A. Scheffler, began on a beautiful day
at the Perry Methodist Church, September 12, 1964, shortly after her graduation from
Perry High School. Their union was blessed with two wonderful sons, Alfred and Joseph
Scheffler, and later with the joy of grandchildren, David and Ashley Scheffler. Edna's
love and guidance were a constant in their lives, and her legacy will live on through
them.
A lifelong resident of Shiawassee County, Edna, alongside her husband David, raised a
family grounded in love. Edna was a devoted member of Gilead Baptist Church in
Owosso.
Edna's professional life was marked by her caring nature as she served her community
as a nurse's aide for Dr Shaft's office. Later, she became a familiar and friendly face at
Snyder's IGA in Perry, where her warm smile brightened the days of customers and
coworkers alike.
Edna's interests and hobbies were reflections of her zest for life and love for those
around her. She enjoyed caring for her flowers, playing cards with family and was an
avid reader.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, David; her children Alfred (Becky)
Scheffler and Joseph Scheffler; grandchildren, David (Anwyn) Scheffler and Ashley
Scheffler; sister, Ella Parrish, and special friends, Pastor Reggie and his wife Tammy
Adkins, along with many extended family members. Her legacy of kindness, devotion,
and service will continue to resonate and inspire all who knew her. She was preceded
in death by her parents; siblings, Barbara Sheski, Mary Hewitt, Phyllis Miller, and Merrill
Lockwood. Her spirit, characterized by compassion and grace, will forever remain a
guiding force for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In the Gospel of Matthew 25:21-23 reads, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you
have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into
the joy of your Lord." Amen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice or to
Gilead Baptist Church in her name. Online condolences, memories, and photos may be
