Edna Scott Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Edna Lucille Scott, 82, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025 in Woodbridge, Virginia. She was born on February 23, 1943, in Narrows, Virginia, to Madeline Hare and Raymond Perdue, the eldest of her sisters, Becky Hale and Lois Grant.

She married Joseph "Buddy" Scott, and together they shared 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2020. They raised two children together, Raymond Scott and Deborah Scott. The family made their home in Alexandria, Virginia, where Edna worked as a secretary for Alexandria City Public Schools and raised her children before later moving to Woodbridge, Virginia. Among the many roles she treasured, being "Gramma" was a source of immense joy. She shared a particularly close bond with her granddaughter, Samantha Scott.

A proud member of Marsh Road Baptist Church for many years, Edna's faith guided her and provided her strength. She loved the Lord with all of her heart.

She will be remembered not only for her fierce love, contagious laugh, and listening ear, but also for the things that brought her joy: her collection of rocks and crystals, her love of Elvis, and tending to the neighborhood birds, squirrels, and even cats.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Buddy Scott; her sister, Becky Hale; and her niece, Trina Martin. She is survived by her children, Raymond Scott and Deborah Scott; her stepchildren, Joey Scott and Kathy Scott; her sister, Lois Grant; her granddaughter, Samantha Scott; and her four nieces.

Edna lived a life marked by strength, perseverance, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her laughter and spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
