Edna Geraldine Silvey-Ross (nee Wilcox) of O’Fallon, MO, cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully into the arms of her savior on January 9, 2025, at the age of 95. Edna was the devoted wife of both the late Edgar Silvey and Lester Ross, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
Born on May 9, 1929, Edna is the cherished daughter of the late Joe B and Ida Grace Wilcox, and preceded in death by her siblings Robert, Ruth, Orville and Raymond Wilcox. She is survived by her loving daughter, Carol (Terry) Ford, granddaughter, Chantel (Brian) Summers; great-grandchildren, Amber Higgins and Hannah (Kenny) Usher, Kaleigh, Skyler and Thomas Summers and great-great-grandchildren, Raynah, Everly, and Maleah Usher. Her family was her absolute greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Edna entered the workforce after being widowed in her younger years and served as both mother and father in a time when that wasn't common. Edna served as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell for over 30 years before transitioning to a position at JC Penney after her retirement.
Beyond her career, Edna had a passion for life. She found immense happiness in reading, going to church, solving crossword puzzles, tending to her plants and flowers and spending time outdoors in the fresh air regardless of the weather. She loved the water even though she never learned to swim. Her warm spirit and love for her family will forever be remembered. Edna's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of her life will be held from 4-7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14th, at Baue Funeral Home in O'Fallon, MO. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, January 15th, at Assumption Catholic Church in O'Fallon, MO. She will be laid to rest immediately following the mass at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
