Edna Mae Carswell Wall passed away October 20, 2025, in New Bern, NC. She was the youngest of four children born to Milas Carswell Sr. and Tina Lovella “Vellar” Huffman.
Born and raised in the South Mountains of Burke County, NC, Edna worked as a clerical worker, key punch operator, and retail sales associate until retiring to spend more time with her grandchild.
Edna loved gardening, crocheting, and animals. She always had the most beautiful yard, and you never left her house without a hat, scarf, or other gift that she had crocheted. She never met a dog she didn't like, and even came to love cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Wall and her brother Milas Carswell Jr.
Edna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wade Wall and Katie Coyle, her only grandson Asa Wall, her brother Shub Carswell, and sister Mary Lee Carson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. David Smith officiating.
