Edna Joyce Yegge, age 92, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Edna was born near Lakota, Iowa on July 9, 1933, the second daughter of George and Sadie (Miller) Johnson, joining her sister Marjorie (William) Becker. She grew up on a farm near Stevens, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Stevens, Iowa. The family later moved to a farm north of Buffalo Center, IA.

Edna was a devoted wife, a deeply loving mother, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. She married the love of her life, Dennis Yegge, on November 29, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Buffalo Center, IA. Their bond was one of deep admiration, loyalty, and enduring love-an example to all who knew them. Edna often said that being Dennis's wife was one of her greatest blessings, and the two shared a life full of laughter, hard work, and mutual devotion.

Edna found immense joy in motherhood. She was a nurturing, selfless, and gentle mother who poured her heart into raising her children. She made every birthday special, every holiday magical, and every ordinary day meaningful. Her love and support were unwavering, and her children will forever be grateful for the warmth and wisdom she gave so freely. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her endless joy.

Edna was well known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies and her beautifully decorated, elaborate cakes crafted with care for her grandchildren's birthdays-each one a labor of love and a highlight of every celebration. She also had a deep love for gardening, baking, and spending time with her family and friends, often hosting gatherings filled with homemade treats and heartfelt conversation.

Edna was a meticulous seamstress who sewed many of her daughters' clothing throughout their high school years, along with creating special sewing projects for her grandchildren, including coordinating outfits, American Girl doll clothing accessories, and Barbie doll attire. Edna enjoyed social events such as her neighborhood birthday club, the local friends 500 card club group, and dancing at Golden Bubble events and family weddings. She was an avid bowler in the city's league and participated at the State level several times.

Edna is survived by her husband, Dennis; their three children: Vicki (Tim) Berschman, Bonnie (Jim Gates) Yegge, and Dan (Pam) Yegge, all of Buffalo Center, IA; five grandchildren: Nikki (Jeff Sexton) Berschman of Ankeny, IA; Bethany (Matt) Brady of Mankato, MN; Whitney (Jared) Baker of Omaha, NE; Derek Yegge of Rake, IA; and Dani (Brendyn) Hawkins of Buffalo Center, IA; nine beloved great-grandchildren: Jade Berschman and Brady Seng; Stella, Charlotte, Luke and Catherine Brady; Mara and Willamina Baker; and Hudson Hawkins, with another great-grandchild on the way; and her sister, Marjorie (William) Becker.

Edna was preceded in death by her infant son, Steven Yegge; her parents, George and Sadie Johnson; her in-laws, Albert and Viola Yegge; and her very special double cousin, Darlene (Dick) Weaver.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time. Edna's legacy of love, kindness, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Memorial gifts will be donated to Breakthrough T1D and St. David's Center.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th at the Heritage Town Center in Buffalo Center, Iowa, beginning with a Rosary and prayer service at 3:30-4 PM, followed by visitation from 4-6 PM.

The funeral Mass for Edna will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 29th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Buffalo Center with Father Andrew Marr presiding, with assistance from Deacon John Roisen. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center, Iowa.
