Edsel Allen Eddie Gatewood

Edsel Allen "Eddie" Gatewood, 72, of Westport, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg. He was born on November 11, 1952, in Greensburg, the son of Allen C. and Evaleen (Asher) Gatewood. He was a lifelong resident of Westport and a 1971 graduate of South Decatur High School. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family, his dogs, being outdoors and Kentucky basketball. He was a veteran having served in the United States Airforce. Eddie married Tonya M. Fuentes on May 18, 1996, at New Bethel and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Heather Renee (Ryan) Cupp of Raleigh, North Carolina; Mia (Chris) Swift of Swansboro, North Carolina and Jenna (Wayne) Green of Greensburg, Indiana; his son, Shannon Lee (Rachelle) Gatewood of LaVernia, Texas; sister, Jodi (Brian) Vanaman of Westport; brother, Randall Shane (Nicole) Gatewood of Michigan; grandchildren, Ethan Cupp, Nora Cupp, Lauren Gatewood, Kristen Gatewood, Kaydence Swift, Reilynn Swift, Kenzington Swift, Vidiana Swift and Harper Stewart; brother-in-law, Joe Fuentes; sisters-in-law, Nancy Schwering and Carolyn Fuentes. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Glenn Black officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9th from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Association or the Humane Society through the funeral home.
