Benjamin James Edward "Benji" Ortman

Benjamin "Benji" James Edward Ortman, 51, of Westport, passed away at 9:23 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. He was born March 30, 1974, in Columbus, the son of Danny and Elaine (Huffmeyer) Ortman. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Decatur and Jennings Counties. He graduated from South Decatur High School in 1992 and was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church. Benji enjoyed farming, fishing, trapping, hunting and his cows. He married Darla Stephens on August 3, 1996, at the Westport Baptist Church. She survives along with his parents, Danny and Elaine Ortman of Greensburg; his daughters; Olivia (Tyler) Bushhorn of Westport, Emma (Ezekiel) Bentley of Flint, Michigan and Sarah (Dalton) McNealy of Westport; his son, Owen Ortman of Westport; his brother, Joey (Sabrina) Ortman of Prosper, Texas and Jed (Alison) Ortman of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Henry Bushhorn and Millie McNealy. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Waynesburg Christian Church with Pastor Jay Vanderbur officiating. Burial will follow at the Bearcreek Cemetery, south of Alert. The visitation time will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. September 9, 2025, at the Waynesburg Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana or the Waynesburg Christian Church Youth Group through the funeral home.
