Jean Marie Ortman, 74, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 27, 1951, in Springfield, IL, to the late Anthony George and Martha Lucille (Lowe) Ortman.

Jean graduated from Taylorville with the Class of 1969. She went on to work for the Secretary of State where she later retired. Jean was an active member of Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville and was a kind and loving aunt who adored her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sister: Janice (Tracy) Hayden of Du Quoin, IL; sister-in-law: Janis Ortman; nephews: Geoffrey Ortman of Taylorville, IL; Tug (Brooke) Wadkins of Pinckneyville, IL; nieces: Kristy (Peter) Geppert of Oakdale, IL; Heather Mikrut (Michael Shelly) of Davenport, FL; great-nieces and great-nephews: Petey, Deakon, Gavin, Hadleigh, Gibson, Mylo, and Quinn; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and her special friends: Gloria, Kedra, and Doris.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Peter Anthony Ortman and George Ortman, a nephew, Brandon Ortman, and a great-niece, Olivia Quinn Wadkins.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. and inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Davis Memorial Christian Church.
