Charles B. Garrity, 81, of Westport, passed away at 6:33 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born on February 29, 1944, in Columbus, the son of Charles S. and Viola Marie (Grady) Garrity. He was a lifelong resident of Sardinia in Decatur County. He had worked for Cummins Engine Co., Garrity Trucking and Globe Paving. He was a member of the St. Johns Masonic Lodge #20 in Columbus. Charles enjoyed trucking, drinking beer with his friends, gardening and he loved his dog, Smoot. He married Diana Carter on June 10, 1962, in Westport. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2001. Survivors include his daughters, Robin R. (Aaron) Morgan of Greensburg and Heather D. Jones of North Vernon; his sons, Todd A. (Tammi) Garrity of Westport and Brent A. Garrity of South Carolina; his sister, Marilyn Weaver of Columbus. 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Malcomb Garrity; his sister, Janice Shumacher; his 2 granddaughters, Tara Renee Garrity and Brittnie Taylor. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness through the funeral home.
