Eduardo T. Beriña, Sr., age 78, passed away on October 28, 2025. He was born on June 4, 1947 in Nabua, Cam. Sur, Philippines to the late Marcelina Tercenio Beriña and Rufino Fuentes Beriña.
His family then moved from Nabua to Mataoroc, Minalabac, where they owned a vast expanse of farmlands.
Ed graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1973 from Mapua University (formerly Mapua Institute of Technology) in Manila – a premier engineering school in the Philippines. However, an unfortunate accident after graduation rendered the good use of his right hand – before the age of computers – nearly impossible to become a successful engineer.
Perhaps not wanting to tend to their family's farm, he sought sales to support his growing family. Starting out as a salesman for California Manufacturing Co. (CMC, now acquired by Unilever), his charisma, gift of gab, and jokester personality endeared him to clients. He quickly rose to the ranks of salesman to manager, then becoming the Regional Manager handling all the 6 provinces of the Bicol Region.
In 1995, the family moved and settled in Virginia Beach. He retired from USUI International.
Ed enjoyed hosting friends, playing mahjong, fishing, karaoke (he had a great voice and can sound like Elvis), travelling, telling stories and cracking jokes. He was a whiz in the kitchen, often whipping up delicious dishes without recipes. He was also very sharp and can finish crossword puzzles and Sudoku in no time. He taught his children chess. In his childhood years, he was the mastermind of #allthingsmischief. He was a pioneer member/officer of Jaycees Pili chapter and Jack & Jill – organizations for community service.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Rull Berina and three children: Charmaine Berina-Miller (Matt Miller) and beloved pup Mika Jade Miller (1); Christopher/Toto; and Eduardo/Jun, Jr. (Sheila Clasio) and grandchildren Gavin (11) and Gracelynn Berina (9). He is also survived by his eldest son, Edgar Allan Berina (Jasmin Ecleo) and grandchildren Jann, Eingel, and Jared Berina.
He is also survived by his sisters Gloria Berina Salvador, Nimfa Berina Balunso and Dr. Renabeth Berina Vera. He is preceded in death by his brothers Dr. Roberto Berina and Manuel Berina.
Generous, gregarious, and kind, he is dearly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
