Eduardo "Ed" Carbajal, 69, passed away on September 13, 2025, at the City of Hope in Duarte, California. Born on July 18, 1956, in Watsonville, California, Ed lived a life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and a generous spirit that touched many in his community.
Ed was the founder of Carbajal Custom Painting, established in 2001. Through his business, he brought color and care to countless local businesses and residences. His commitment extended beyond aesthetics-he also took pride in covering graffiti for local establishments, helping maintain the integrity and beauty of his community. Before launching his painting company, Ed worked as a floor installer and roofer. A true jack of all trades, he applied his skills not only professionally but also personally-making improvements to both his own home and his son's.
Family was at the heart of everything Ed did. He shared 36 years of marriage with his beloved wife Theresa Carbajal. Together they built a life filled with love and adventure-including countless visits to Disneyland over the span of 35 years. Their honeymoon at the park marked the beginning of a lifelong tradition in their "happy place." Ed was a devoted father to Joseph Carbajal and wife Perla; and Jessica Carbajal (Burke) and husband Cody, and a proud grandfather to Mileena and Cristian Carbajal. He found immense joy in supporting his granddaughter's softball career-from chaperoning travel tournaments to creating a custom sign for her final season at Aptos High School.
He also gave back to the youth in his community by dedicating several years of coaching his son's little league baseball team and his daughter's girls soccer team. Whether on the field or off, Ed was known for being someone others could count on-always ready to lend a hand or offer support when it was needed most.
Ed is also remembered by his siblings: Rich Carbajal, Alice Conseco, Liz Mattingly, and Robert Carbajal; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were fortunate enough to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Josephine Carbajal and his brother Bill Carbajal. A man of quiet strength and unwavering loyalty, Ed's legacy lives on through the lives he touched-with every painted wall, every coached game, every act of kindness.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Viewing will be held on October 5, 2025, from 05:00 PM to 06:30 PM at Mehl's Colonial Chapel 222 E. Lake Avenue. After closing the casket, the Memorial will be held from 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM, verbal memories welcome. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians 2401 E. Lake Avenue with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery
