Jean and I are saddened to hear about the death of Ed Cuellar. I knew Ed very well when Ed lived in Cary, NC. He was a caring and loyal friend. We had many of the same interest.
We both had been in the Air Force and loved airplanes and flying. Ed was a Patriot. He loved this country, and his time in the military. I admired his military service as Ed spent much more time in the service than I did. Nevertheless, we spent many hours talking about our experiences.
We both were very much into jogging or walking and loved nature. We would meet about 3-4 times a week at the lake near his home in Lochmere or Lake Pine near my home to exercise and talk. Ed was like a brother to me.
Our love for automobiles was another interest we shared. The whole time I knew Ed in Cary, he drove a brown Volvo Manuel 5 Speed 4-Door Sedan. One day when I stopped by to visit him, Ed had taken the transmission out and had parts everywhere. It was amazing to help him but mostly watch him install the new clutch. I have never seen anyone keep a car longer and drive it more miles than Ed did that Volvo.
Del and Grace I never had the opportunity to meet you and your families, but I feel as if I know you well. Ed talked about you all the time. It was evident you all were the most important people in his life. Ed talked so lovingly about your Mother. I know it was hard for him to lose her so soon. Ed was so proud of you!
Thank you Barbara for being such a kind friend to Ed. I appreciate you both stopping by to visit us in Cary. Jean and I enjoyed going out to eat with you and Ed and sharing a special time together. I think we all knew it may be the last.
May the Memories Give You Peace and Comfort! May Ed Cuellar's Life and Goodness Help Us All To Live Better.
Our Love and Prayers,
John and Jean Harris
