MCALLEN- Eduardo Joel Mata, 77, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March , 2026. Mr. Mata was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael Daniel Mata, and Eduvijes Garcia; three siblings, Oscar+(Marina) Mata, Rafael (Sylvia) Mata, and Marylou (Valentine) Garza
Mr. Mata is survived by his wife Elvia Garza; four children, JoAnn (Jose) Felan, Vicky (Armando) Abrego, Eddie (Amiee) Mata, Joel (Gloria) Mata; three step children, Marla (Roland) Ortiz, Jose Manuel (Teresa) Saenz, Michelle Saenz; ; seven grandchildren, Anthony (Dvia) Mata, Jose Ruben (Kelli) Felan, Isabella Felan, Alvino Felan, Jordan Ortiz, Emma Ortiz, and Jacob Saenz; seven great grandchildren, Nataneal Mata, Brysen Mata, Amyrah Mata, Iszaiah Felan, Lailah Felan, David Felan, and Oliva Felan; three siblings, Jose (Hilda) Mata, David (Ernestina) Mata, and JC (Ruth+) Mata; numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Mcallen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in Mcallen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
