I was a first semester freshman at San Jose State in the Fall of 1976 when I met Ed through Army ROTC. I mentioned to Ed that my Eagle Scout Court of Honor was forthcoming. Ed told me he was an Eagle Scout & would be proud to attend my Court of Honor. We bonded over our shared Scouting experience. Even then I had great respect for this high minded gentleman.
