Edvins Temmers, age 90, of Prescott, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
He was born on October 14, 1934, to Arthur and Anna Temmers in Jekabpils, Latvia. At the age of 16, Edvins, along with his mother, grandmother, and sister, bravely fled persecution under the Soviet regime. Their journey took them through Germany before finding refuge in the United States, where they built a long and prosperous life beginning in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he received his high school diploma.
Edvins attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he earned a degree in engineering. He went on to proudly serve his adopted country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Having experienced life under a communist regime as a child, Edvins deeply cherished the freedoms and values of America and remained a proud patriot throughout his life.
Edvins built a lifelong career as a project manager for the Department of Defense, working as a nuclear submarine outfitter. With a twinkle in his eye, he would often joke, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”
More than his career, though, what defined Edvins most was his love for his family. His mission in life was to leave behind a strong legacy for those he loved. He was an incredible husband and father who never missed a moment and always supported his children and wife. He especially cherished his role as a grandfather, delighting in the lives of his eight beautiful grandchildren. His love of family was matched only by his love for college football especially cheering on his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers. Thoughtful and generous, Edvins even created college funds for each of his grandchildren, ensuring that his legacy would continue through their education.
He is survived by his children, Erik (Rashel) Temmers and Ann (Jeff) Pollack; his grandchildren, Ashley (Michael Andres) Bowes, Ariana Temmers, Barrett Temmers, Brody Temmers, Amelia Temmers, Tommy Pollack, Kyle Pollack, and Logan Pollack; his sister, Anna (Jim) Barber; and his niece, Erica Ann. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret, and his parents, Arthur and Anna.
A Celebration of Edvins’ Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Joy Lutheran Church, 1435 St. Croix Street, Prescott, WI 54021. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the church, and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Following the service, Edvins will be laid to rest alongside the love of his life, Margaret, at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Castelloe-Madsen Post #61.
Edvins will be remembered for his resilience, patriotism, humor, and, above all, his devotion to family. His life was a testament to courage, perseverance, and love. In honor of his Husker pride, the family invites all who attend to wear Nebraska Cornhusker red.
