Edward (Harvey) Alexander Obituary
Edward (Harvey) Louis Alexander, 74, of Camden passed away at home on April 5, 2024. Born in Dover, DE, he was the son of the late H. Marie (Harrington) and Irvan Fletcher Alexander.
Ed LOVED spending time with his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him! He had an infectious smile and thoroughly enjoyed cracking jokes with family and friends. You could often find him on Chincoteague Island, a home away from home that brought joy to his life, especially in the company of family and friends.
Ed took great pride in being a part of his community. He was an active member of the Harrington Moose Lodge and the Harrington American Legion. He was president of the Mt. Olive Cemetery for over 30 years and served as a trustee for the Cow Marsh Baptist Church Cemetery. Ed retired after 30 years from the State of Delaware working as the purchasing manager for the Department of Motor Vehicle. He enjoyed farming and had a passion for investing, especially when it came to real estate.
He is survived by his children: Rodney Alexander of Hockessin and Kimberly Alexander Gaines and her husband John of Camden; his brother Edwin "Peanut" Alexander and his wife Brenda of Camden; his sister-n-law Maria Alexander; his companion Susan K. Alexander of Dover; and his six grandchildren: Ethan Gaines, Olivia Gaines, Molly Alexander, Vanessa Gaines, Abby Alexander and Riley Alexander. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers William "Duke" Alexander, Charles Alexander and his sister Janice Alexander.
There will be a viewing from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Thursday, April 11 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934. There will be an additional viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday morning, April 12. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Harrington Moose Lodge, Harrington American Legion or Mt Olive Cemetery – perpetual care (mail to 6693 Willow Grove Rd, Camden 19934). I met Harvey as I bartending at the Harrington Moose. When I first started, he would make his comments to get a raise out of me but I always gave it back. I knew his drink and he always made sure to tell me goodbye and say until next time. I will always remember his smile and he was so kind hearted. I will miss him greatly. My condolences to his family because I know he loved them all so much.

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I knew Harvey from coming into the Sandtown store when I worked there. It always made my day when I saw him, he was such a wonderful person.

The Darling Family

April 8, 2024

To Rodney and Kim: The Darling Family is so very sad to hear of your Dad's passing. Although the years have flown by and we have all grown apart with life getting in the way we all still have very fond memories of our family's gatherings when we were all kids and of course our parents all knowing each other for a lifetime as neighboring farmers and friends Please know that we are all thinking of you at this time. We will always remember your Dad with fondness. In sincere sympathy, Marvel and Vanita Darling, Penny and Norman Wood and Jeff and Karen Darling
