Following a lengthy and hard-fought battle, Edward James Allaire, of Midland, TX, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, with his wife of 31 years by his side. Known to most as Butch, he was often seen cruising the streets of Fort Stockton in some classics, hitting it "miles" on the golf course, and dipping a worm in the scarce waters of West Texas.
Butch was born in Palestine, TX on January 10, 1949, to Bob and Faye Allaire. He grew up following the career of his father to several places, eventually ending up in Crane where he graduated in 1967. After a couple of years enrolled at Sul Ross, he decided that it was time to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army. Two tours in Vietnam led to him returning home with a Bronze Star, as well as other notable achievements. Little did he know at the time, he also came home with what would become a life ending disease. Back in West Texas, he settled in Fort Stockton where he began a lengthy career in the oil and gas industry. Whether he was baiting a line, trying to birdie hole #5 in Fort Stockton, or restoring iconic classic cars, Butch continued his passions in every step of life following retirement in 2002.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Faye Allaire. He is survived by his wife Cathy, son Shane Allaire and wife Stefanie, daughter Theresa Allaire, son Corey Thiel and fiancé Shelly, brother Mike Allaire and wife Joy, brother Pat Allaire and wife Linda, sister Theresa Walker and husband Chris, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren that lovingly called him Grampi, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the VA staff, Home Health nurses Brenda and Shamika, therapists and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in his memory to Disabled American Veterans www.dav.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
