Edward Jerome Barkocy



Surrounded by his loving family, Edward Jerome Barkocy passed away at 82 years old on August 3, 2023 from dementia.  

Ed was born

in Hazleton, Pennsylvania on

September 21,

1940 to Andrew Barkocy and Anna Kraynick Barkocy. After graduating from University of Dayton in Ohio, he started his career at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM where he eventually became a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff working as a Mechanical Engineering Technician in the Weapon Systems Group.  

Ed met Joyce Cuneo up on a blind date, and a couple of years later, Ed & Joyce married at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Albuquerque.  They had two wonderful sons, Timothy & Kevin. 

Ed's greatest love, was being with his family.  He was a devoted dad and husband, and became a wonderful father-in-law to Marybeth and Laura and the best grandpa in the whole world to the grandchildren.  In his retirement, Ed was his grandkids' greatest sports fan and chauffeur, and he and Joyce became world travelers. 

Ed is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Joyce; his sons, Tim and Kevin; his daughter-in-laws, Marybeth and Laura; and his grandchildren: Brianna and husband, Matt Holden; Nathan and wife, Charity Barkocy; Emily Barkocy and fiancé, Connor Howe; and Jack Barkocy. 

Services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 12500 Carmel Ave. ABQ, NM 87122: Friday, August 18th, 2023 - 6:00 pm Rosary â€" 6:30 pm Vigil: Saturday, August 19th, 2023 - Funeral Mass - 9:00 am, followed by Interment at Gate of Heaven on Wyoming, followed by
