Breaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 2, 2025 at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of Edward L. Barron, 89, who passed away on May 30, 2025 in Baton Rouge.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday evening.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Leah Barron and Michael Barron. Gift bearers will be Linda and Ronnie Barron.
Burial will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2.
Edward Lee Barron, born on December 7, 1935, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He had a fulfilling career, most notably serving as the Vice President of Customer Service at CLECO, where he was well-respected and cherished by his colleagues.
He graduated from Breaux Bridge Senior High School before continuing his education at LSU. There, he ran track and field for the university and specialized in the 400 meters where he excelled in both individual and relay events. He later obtained a mechanical engineering degree from SLI. Ed was a dedicated member of the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Association, where he shared his passion for community and culture with those around him. Outside of his professional and community commitments, he was an avid skier and fly fisherman, showcasing his love for the outdoors. Edward also had a gift for engineering and artistry. He spent countless hours making bamboo fly rods, stained glass windows, rosaries, and indulging in painting and sculpture, leaving behind a legacy of creativity.
He proudly served his country in the Air Force, and his memory will be honored with the respect he deserves. Friends and loved ones are invited to join the Barron family to celebrate his life and legacy. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, intelligence, and unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Margaret Champagne Barron; his children, Leah Barron (H. Evans Scobee) and Michael Barron (Alaina); one grandchild, Ryan Edward Rebowe (Danielle); great-grandchildren, Addison, Eleanor, and Margaret Rose "Margot" Rebowe; and one brother, Ronnie Barron (Linda).
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Martha Leblanc Barron; and brother, Jimmy Barron.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Ryan Rebowe, Dr. Scott Guidry, Paul Champagne, Rex LeBlanc, Terry Huval, and H. Evans Scobee
Honorary pallbearer will be Ross Champagne.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
