Edward Blakley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center on Feb. 4, 2026.
Edward Lee Blakley, 71, lovingly known by many as "Ed," a lifelong Morgan County resident, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 4:28 p.m. in the emergency room at Franciscan Health Hospital with loved ones by his side.

Ed's life began on Monday, June 28, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, when he was born to Agnes Ann (Williams) Kerr and the late Sherman T. Blakley. He owned and operated Acrosstown Towing in Martinsville for nearly 30 years before retiring.

Ed took great pleasure in fishing, camping, riding his side-by-side, spending time with animals, and his membership with the Bigfoot Research Organization. Above all, his greatest joy came from the love he shared with his family.

Those left behind to treasure his memory include his children, Rusty Blakley (Danielle) of Brazil, Indiana; Chris Blakley (Julie) of Martinsville, Indiana; and twins, Michael Blakley (Jennifer) of Martinsville, Indiana, and Laurie Troxell (Brian) of Florida; his mother, Agnes Ann Kerr of Mooresville, Indiana; his soulmate, Betty Hays of Martinsville, Indiana; the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Sandy Blakley of Martinsville; brothers, Jerry Blakley of Wilbur, David Blakley (Teresa) of Monrovia, Indiana, Doug Blakley (Pam) of Florida, and Sam Blakley of Mooresville, Indiana; along with twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

Besides his father, Ed was also sadly preceded in death by his son, Charles "Adam" Blakley, on July 31, 2022.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 89 S. Main Street, Martinsville, Indiana. A service celebrating Ed's life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the church, immediately following the visitation.

In honoring his wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 W. Mitchell Avenue, Martinsville, Indiana 46151.

Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be shared with Ed's family at www.nealandsummers.com.
