Indiana Funeral Care - GreenwoodBobby Darrol Deckard, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Martinsville, Indiana, on March 15, 2026.
Bob was born on October 16, 1942, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, to Lawrence and Arlie Deckard. He was the fifth child and the youngest son in his family.
He worked for 42 years at Capital Machine Company, where his amazing mechanical skills earned him great respect. Bob could understand, fix, or build almost anything, making him a trusted and valued colleague.
Bob shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Janice Deckard. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and happiness.
Fondly known as "Pops," Bob was the person everyone turned to for advice or help solving problems. He had a playful nature and a laugh that could brighten any room, whether through jokes or friendly pranks.
He loved building cars and motorcycles, going to classic car shows, and spending time with friends and family. One of his proudest achievements was building a motorcycle that set a quarter-mile land speed record.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janice, and his children: Roberta Woodall (Jeff), Max Onan, Colleen Evans (Bryan), Mandy McGovern (Jim), and Shane Pickett (Tina). He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren, a great-grandfather to fourteen, and a great-great-grandfather to one. His kindness, wisdom, and humor touched many lives.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was always ready to help others. His family and friends will cherish the memories and lessons he shared.
