Edward J Bogy III, (80) of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2023.
Ed was born to Edward and Catherine Bogy in San Antonio, TX, on August 10th, 1943, shortly after the family moved to Altheimer, AR, where he would spend his childhood.
Ed attended Altheimer High School, enjoyed time with classmates, and lettered in basketball and baseball. He attended Arkansas Tech University, graduating with a double major in general business and accounting.
Upon taking a break from college after his first year, he joined the United States Army and traveled the world. While serving four years in the Military Police Corps, he achieved the rank of corporal. Ed then returned to ATU to complete his studies and was introduced to Royanne Dunn, which led to 54 years of marriage and two loving sons, Roy and George.
Ed found his true calling in the accounting world and dedicated most of his career as the finance director for the City of Pine Bluff, AR, dutifully fulfilling that role for 31 years. He retired in 2006 and in 2017, moved to Memphis to be closer to family. Ed enjoyed trips to the horse races around the country but had a particular affinity for Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, AR. He was also a voracious reader who enjoyed all genres but primarily focused on WWII, science fiction, and Westerns, with Louis L'Amour being his favorite author.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Royanne, who passed away earlier this year. He leaves behind his two children, Roy Bogy and George (Sarah) Bogy.
A memorial service will be in the reception room of Robinson and Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel Friday, November 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM
