Edward Lewis Brown died in his sleep on October 13, 2025, while recovering from surgery.

He was born March 9th 1936 to Franklin I. Brown and Hettie Brown in Sayre PA. Hettie passed away in the hospital soon after his birth, leaving Edward to be raised by his father, Frank, along with 4 siblings, Robert, Guelda, Betty and Leland. Frank was remarried to Mabel, who became the mother to these 5 children.

They lived in Sunbury Pennsylvania until 1950, when Frank became vice president of a food company in San Antonio Texas.

Edward went to high school at Carson Long Military School in New Bloomfield Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio. After graduating from Jefferson in '54 he went into the Navy for 4 years and served as a corpsman. After fulfilling his 4 years he went to work for City Public Service Board in San Antonio.

In 1960 he married the love of his life Berneice Partee. They had 2 Children (Lewis in 1961 and Evelyn in 1966).

In 1966 he took a course in computer programming at the junior college and then went to work for IBM. A few years of experience made him qualified to be a systems analyst and computer room manager. He did this work in many industries and locations. After retirement, he learned to develop photos and worked at Walmart in Bastrop. A knee injury acquired in the Navy eventually left him only able to work on his own property. Improving the house and twenty acres he owned in Muldoon was his reason for living. He was a faithful Episcopalian his whole life and served his community in many ways, as he was able.

He was survived by his daughter, Evelyn Brown Walker, her 7 children, and his grandson, Merlin Phrazier Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Berneice, and his son, Lewis.

Viewing will be held at Marrs-Jones in Smithville from 5-7pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The funeral service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in La Grange at 10am on Friday, October 24, 2025. Burial service will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville at 12:00pm, October 24, 2025.
