Age 69, of Beechview, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, surrounded by family. Ed was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 24, 1955, the son of the late Edward J. and Hazel Caputo. Ed grew up on Beechview Avenue and played baseball in the Beechview Little League. He attended St. Catherine of Siena School where he played football. After graduating from South Catholic High School, Ed attended Boston College where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and became a life-long "Screaming Eagles" fan. Ed returned home after his graduation to work alongside his father at Cabot Travel (downtown Pittsburgh) and marry the love of his life, Sherri. Together, they raised four children.
Ed was well traveled. His job took him to countless destinations over the years and Ed often brought his wife, kids, and other family members along for the ride. Ed shared his love of music, movies, and sports with all that he met. An avid record collector, known to some people as "Bowie Fan"; Ed kept up with the most up and coming music throughout his life.
As much as Ed loved his children, he loved his grandchildren even more. He doted on each of his grandchildren and took extraordinary pride in attending their sporting and other events.
Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years Sherri (Perotti) Caputo. Beloved father of Jennifer L. Caputo Rouse, Edward J. (Kady Brethauer), II, Michael J. (Nicole) and Marc E. Caputo. Cherished Pap of Nina, Michael, Aria, Sophia, Mason and Avery. Brother of Tina (the late Adam) Caputo Griffel and John Caputo. Brother-in-law of Joe (Elisa) Perotti, Barb (Dan) Landy and Cathy (Randy) Ziegler. Eddie will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 2-7 p.m. at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately for the family.

I'd like to share my condolences to Ed's family. I only knew Ed for a short time. I met him at a record fair on Long Island, NY and he became one of my customers. I only wish we would have spoken prior to his passing. He was a good man.

I met Ed Caputo at a record sale at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake, Illinois in 2018. We were among a small number of people selling records at this event. Immediately, I found Ed to be very knowledgeable about records and especially many of the bands we both loved. We soon became friends and would run into each other at various record shows in Illinois and Wisconsin. We always would find some records to trade and talk about. I became very concerned about him when I learned of his increasing health issues in recent years. I was always open to a phone call from Ed if he needed to talk with someone. I knew his condition was getting worse, but kept hoping he would pull through. Ed's death is a serious personal loss to me. I am so sorry he is gone. I will miss him.

Worked with Eddie at the Sands and Foxwoods. I´m a Flyers fan and Eddie a Penguins fan - always great hockey banter. Great memories. RIP Eddie and sorry for your loss to Sherry and his kids.

Eddie, to a fellow Rebel and Broadway Bully. May your soul Rest In Peace. Remembering the knockout drag out street hockey games at your house in South Park. Heartfelt Prayers to the family to help them cope with this loss. God Bless you all and keep you safe. With deepest sympathy.
