In Loving Memory

Mary Denise Dummer

July 30th 1940 - February 2nd 2026

Denise Dummer, 85, a longtime resident of Framingham, MA, died Monday, February 2, 2026, after a period of declining health.

Born in Peoria, IL, she first came to the Boston area to attend Newton College of the Sacred Heart, which later merged with Boston College.

Denise's work life echoed many of her interests in health, travel and gardening. She worked in the admitting department at Mass General Hospital and later as a home health aide. She also worked at The Institute of Certified Travel Agents (now known as The Travel Institute), at City Plants and for the Marist Missionary Sisters in Waltham.

Denise was known among her wide circle of devoted friends for her compassion, kindness and sense of fun. She was an avid gardener, loved to travel and was a great reader and knowledge seeker. Her interests ranged from classical music to history to football.

After retiring, Denise participated in volunteer activities at both the Wellesley and Framingham public libraries. She learned massage techniques and volunteered at Metrowest Medical Center to provide hand massages for patients.

A generous person, Denise contributed financially to many charities each year, including those supporting women, Native Americans, medical research, the fight to end hunger, housing and conservation issues and animal care.

At her request, no memorial service is being held. She will be buried at Edgell Grove Cemetery & Mausoleum in Framingham.

If you like, contributions to the charity of your choice can be made in Denise's name.
