Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home - ColumbiaEdward Allen “Toby” Clark, 87, resident of McMinnville, passed from this life on February 15, 2026, with his wife and children at his side.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Phillips, Terry Connor, and Scott Clark officiating and with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Burial will follow at Giles Memory Gardens in Pulaski, TN. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.
Born April 29, 1938, he was the son of the late Urban Rivers Clark and the late Mae Elizabeth Solomon Clark. Mr. Clark was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, while attending school there he became a die hard, life loyal fan of the Tennessee Volunteers football team. After graduation he served his country as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. In 1998 he retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture after a long and productive career. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, often telling them stories of what life was like growing up on the farm. For many years he attended Tennessee football games, cheering them on when they were playing well, and maybe complaining when they weren’t. He loved traveling to new places and saw as much of this country as he possibly could, visiting every state in the Union. He was a member of Westwood Church of Christ in McMinnville. Prior to moving to McMinnville he was a longtime member of Graymere Church of Christ in Columbia.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bettye Jo Ervin Clark; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Karla Clark of Clarksville, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Terry Connor of McMinnville, TN; sister, Mary Nell Clark Williamson; grandchildren, Jacob Clark, Rivers Clark, Allison Whitaker, Baylee Connor, Katrina Clark, Dawn Evans, and David Evans; great-grandchildren, Connor Whitaker and Tripp Whitaker; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Urban Clark.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Clark, Jacob Clark, Rivers Clark, Greg Clark, Phillip Clark, and Rob McNeese. Honorary pallbearers will include Kenneth Corder, Carter Hill, Jack Woodard, Mark Davis, Fred Davis, Earl Pope, Wendell Robinson, Bill Chaffin, Danny Moser, Fred Porter, and David Evans.
The family would like to express a special thank you to NHC McMinnville and NP Greta Minton for all the love and care they gave.
