Obituary of Edward L Cluen
Edward "Ed" Lawrence Cluen passed away surrounded by family on November 28, 2023, in Cocoa Beach, FL, exactly three weeks shy of his 92 birthday. He was born on December 19, 1931, in New York City, NY, to the late John and Grace Cluen. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings Jack, Anne, Grace, Ray, and Ken. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Eleanor Cluen, and his second wife, Theresa Gardner.
Ed is survived by his loving daughters Eileen Mazary (Dave), Ellen Cluen, and Liz Schlierf (Roland); his grandchildren David, Joshua, Noelle, Jacob, Wesley, Emily, Sean, Rebecca, and Katie; and ten great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Ed attended Brooklyn Technical High School before joining the Navy for four years. He was proud of working as a technician on the Lunar Module at Grumman Aerospace during the Apollo program. When the Apollo program concluded in the 70s, he became a structural steel detailer at Tensor Engineering, ensuring his family could remain in Cocoa Beach.
In his free time, Ed was an avid fisherman both in his backyard and out on the ocean, and taught his daughters to pilot a boat before they learned to drive a car. He had been a very active member of Church of Our Saviour since his family moved to Cocoa Beach in 1966. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight for several years. Ed and Elly were fixtures at the annual Our Saviour's Fair, as well as Our Saviour School Bingo.
Ed's Funeral Mass will be held at Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach on Saturday, December 9, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Church of Our Saviour, 5301 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931.
