Edward Lee Coker Jr., 74, of both Huntsville and Rogersville Alabama, transitioned from this life on September 19, 2024. Eddie died from a stroke doing one of the things he loved most, playing cards with his friends at the Huntsville Country Club. He was born on August 13, 1950, to Edward Lee Coker Sr. and Lou Ollie Bailey in Huntsville.
Eddie, also known as Papa (his favorite nickname), Kokomo, and Edro, attended the University of North Alabama and developed and managed Huntsville's waste to energy facility.
He married Patsy Gail Clark (Coker) on August 11, 1973, and they had one child, Edward "Lee" Coker III. They have two grandchildren, Hudson Phoenix Coker (13) and Jonah Lee Coker (10).
Eddie loved to be on and by the water. Boating, skiing and hanging out on the Tennessee River was a lifelong source of enjoyment for him. He also loved spending time with his family, particularly lunches with his wife and games with his grandchildren. Eddie also loved playing cards and chilling out with his friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Preacher Bill Crosby officiating. Please join us if you feel called.
In lieu of flowers, if you feel called, please make a donation to the Tennessee Riverkeeper, an organization that works to protect the river and its tributaries.
Thank you for being Eddie's friend. He loved us all so much.
