Edward "Ed" Wilson Cowan, Jr., went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2022.
Ed was born August 14, 1954 to Edward Wilson Cowan, Sr., and Marion Kiser Sanford in Jackson, Mississippi. He was raised in Jackson before moving to Houston, Texas where he spent the majority of his life. Ed attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and then went to Texas State University in San Marcos. After moving to Houston, Ed met his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Cowan, and they had a son, Henry Cowan.
Ed was a true entrepreneur and ran a successful photography business for many decades serving the people of Houston. Ed's clients loved his positive attitude and his superb photographs. His clients remember him saying, "A little happy," before shots to encourage a good smile.
In addition to being a premier wedding photographer for many families in Houston, he also photographed conferences for large corporations across the Harris County area and created the composite portraits for the Harris County Criminal District Attorney's Office for years.
Ed loved golf and spent many weekends with Henry at Memorial Park. When he was not golfing, playing guitar, or reading a good book, Ed enjoyed spending time with his family.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Edward Wilson Cowan, Sr., his mother Marion Kiser Sanford and his grandparents. Ed is survived by his wife Ginny, his son Henry, his sister Marion Cowan Knight and his nephew William Knight of Fort Worth, his Sister Helen Herbert of Atlanta, his brother John Sanford of Austin, and many other family members. Ed was very influential with his wife Ginny's large extended family. This includes numerous nieces and nephews that have extremely fond memories of "Uncle Ed" and what a positive impact he made on their lives.
Funeral service to be held at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, located at 2450 River Oaks Boulevard, Houston Texas 77019, at 11AM on Saturday, September 17, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ed Cowan to the Houston SPCA https://houstonspca.org
