Edward Denk Obituary

He was born in Erie, on August 29, 1946, a son of the late Emil G. and Carola (Hoffman) Denk.
Edward graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1965. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as an Electrician's Mate aboard the USS Benjamin Stoddert (DD G-22.) He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Commendation Medal (D), and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, serving one tour of duty in Vietnam.
Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and began working for Penelec, Front Street, for 21 years, followed by 12 years at Penelec, Evans Road, as an electrical equipment substation electrician.
Ed was a Legacy Member of Edinboro-McKean VFW Post#740, where he worked as Quartermaster for 15 years and was instrumental in the construction of the post with other veterans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie (Denk) Lutsch as well as a brother, Emil P. Denk.
He will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Carole A. (Froess) Denk, whom he married September 25, 1971; two daughters, Lisa (Denk) Horowitz (Joshua) of Bridgeville, PA and Michelle (Denk) Wheeler (Chris) of Girard; two sons, Ronald E. Denk (Dusti) of Portland, OR and David A. Denk (Sara) of Erie; a sister, Erika (Denk) Kujan of Taveras, FL; a step sister, MaryAnn Yonko of Girard; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11:00 am to be followed by full military honors at Girard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edinboro-McKean VFW Post # 740, 10613 Route 98, Edinboro, PA 16412.
