Edward Dering Obituary

Born in Orange, NJ, Edward was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Dering. He spent his life in service to others, beginning with his role at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark, where he worked for over 40 years. Edward was known for his dependability-rain or shine, illness or good health, he took the bus and train to work every day without fail. His dedication to his job earned him the respect of colleagues and a fixture at St. Michael's Hospital.
Beyond his career, Edward was a deeply caring individual, especially when it came to his family. He took great pride in caring for his mother, Elizabeth, in her later years, offering his time and love without expectation or need for recognition. His quiet acts of kindness and sacrifice were a testament to the depth of his character.
Edward is survived by his sisters, Joyce Salvato and Elizabeth Primamore; his nieces, Julie Salvato, Betty Salvato and Donna Bisbal & husband Primo Bisbal, Suzanne Vecchi & husband Jerry Vecchi; nephew, Jerry Primamore; his great nieces and nephews, Jennifer Guerino, Lisa Jordan, Ashley Guerino, Amanda Guerino, Kristina Guerino, Nicole Benenato, Danielle Frese, Nicholas Kent, William Benenato, Joseph Benenato, Andrew Benenato, Jerry Primamore and Joseph Primamore, Nicole & Brittney Vecchi & 6 great great nieces and nephew.
Visiting will be held from 9 am to 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 15 at Scanlan's, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am at St. Joseph's RC Church, Lincoln Park. Burial will follow at Forest Green Park, Morganville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory can be made to American Cancer Society. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Edward, please visit our floral store.
