Edward P. Diel

Edward P. Diel, 82, of Freedom, formerly a longtime resident of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Born on November 10, 1942, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Dorothy G. (Martin) Diel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Mason.

Ed is survived by his devoted wife of almost 62 years, Judith Ann (Steele) Diel. He was the proud father of four children: Diane (Daniel) Rogers, Martin (Nagmeh) Diel, Denise (Christopher) Reynolds, and Michelle (Petrit) Sokoli. He cherished his grandchildren-Amber, Monica, Aleta, Ashley, Alanna, Donovan, Collin, Michael, Eliza, Nathan, and Aubrey-and his great-grandchildren, Noah, Avelyn, Aurora, and Lyra. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Dorothy Jubic, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ed dedicated much of his career to the Borough of Monroeville, serving as a zoning officer, and also worked in the printing industry. A lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, he loved cheering on his hometown teams both at home and at the games. Above all, Ed was a man of faith who treasured time with family and friends. Known for his quick wit, warm smile, generosity, and steady support, he touched countless lives. His legacy of love, humor, and devotion will continue through all who knew him.

Family and friends are warmly invited to a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Community Church, 3100 Wexford Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
